1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information needed to run the game:

Anonymous profile data — A randomly generated identifier tied to your device and any display name you choose.

Gameplay data — Guessed countries, number of attempts, streak length, leaderboard stats, and session timestamps.

Device data — Device model, operating system, and push notification token (only if you opt into notifications).

Support messages — Messages you send to our support email or through contact forms.

We do not currently collect email addresses, phone numbers, or other direct contact information by default.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information to deliver and improve PocketGlobe:

• Authenticate players and sync progress across devices.

• Generate the daily puzzle and evaluate your guesses with distance feedback.

• Maintain streaks, leaderboards, and achievement tracking.

• Send optional reminders when a new puzzle is available.

• Diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.

3. Push Notifications

If you opt in to notifications, we use Expo's push notification service to send reminders about new puzzles, streak milestones, and product updates. Expo receives your anonymised device token and basic delivery metrics. You can disable notifications at any time from in-app settings or your device settings.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on a few trusted providers to operate PocketGlobe:

Convex — Hosts our database and real-time functions for game logic and leaderboards.

Expo — Helps deliver updates to the mobile app.

These partners process data on our behalf according to our instructions. They do not sell or use your data for advertising.

5. Data Storage & Retention

We store data securely in the United States. Gameplay history and streak data are retained while your anonymous profile remains active so we can show your stats. You may request deletion at any time by emailing support@homeword.app. When we process a deletion request, we remove associated personal data within 30 days, except where legal obligations require longer retention.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your region, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data and to object to certain processing. Contact us at support@homeword.app to exercise these rights.

7. Children's Privacy

PocketGlobe welcomes players of all ages. We collect only limited data needed to run the game and encourage parents or guardians to supervise play for children under the age at which they can consent to digital services in their region. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without the appropriate permission, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for major changes, notify you in-app or by email.
